The Chery E5 has made a significant entrance into the Australian electric vehicle market, offering a compelling blend of stylish design and value-packed features. For the Australian market, the Chery E5 is available in two front-wheel drive variants: the entry-level Urban and the more premium Ultimate. Both models are powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that produces a healthy 150 kW and 340 Nm of torque, allowing for a brisk 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.6 seconds. This shared powertrain ensures a consistent level of performance across the range.

The E5 features a 61.1 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery, which provides a commendable WLTP driving range of 430 km for both variants. This makes it a strong contender for buyers who need a reliable range for both daily commuting and weekend trips. The E5 also supports DC fast charging up to 80 kW, which can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in a quick 28 minutes, minimising downtime on longer journeys.

While the two variants share the same powertrain and range, the Ultimate model justifies its higher price with a long list of additional premium features. Both models come standard with dual 12.3-inch screens, a full-size spare wheel, and a comprehensive suite of 18 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, the Ultimate adds luxury touches such as an eight-speaker Sony sound system, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, and heated seats and steering wheel. It also features a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety and convenience.
