The Mercedes-Benz EQA is the entry point into the brand’s all-electric SUV lineup in Australia, offering a blend of luxury, compact dimensions, and zero-emission driving. While it shares its fundamental architecture with the petrol-powered Mercedes-Benz GLA, the EQA has been extensively re-engineered to be a dedicated electric vehicle, and it has recently received some significant updates for the 2025 model year.
The Australian lineup for the EQA consists of two main variants: the EQA 250+ and the all-wheel-drive EQA 350 4MATIC.
The EQA 250+ is the more efficient and longer-range option. It is a front-wheel-drive model equipped with a 70.5 kWh battery pack, which gives it an impressive WLTP driving range of up to 578 km. It’s powered by a single electric motor producing 140 kW of power and 385 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and comfortable driving experience perfectly suited for city and suburban commuting.
For those who desire more performance and all-weather capability, there’s the EQA 350 4MATIC. This variant adds a second electric motor on the rear axle, creating a powerful all-wheel-drive system. While it uses a smaller 66.5 kWh battery, the dual-motor setup delivers a combined 215 kW of power and a substantial 520 Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a swift 6.0 seconds. However, the increased power and all-wheel drive do result in a shorter driving range of around 432 km (WLTP).
Both models come with a high level of standard equipment, including Mercedes-Benz’s latest MBUX infotainment system with a large dual-screen display, a suite of advanced safety features, and a luxurious cabin with high-quality materials. The EQA also supports DC fast-charging up to 100 kW, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
With its updated styling, improved range on the EQA 250+, and the choice between a long-range or a performance-focused all-wheel-drive variant, the Mercedes-Benz EQA remains a highly competitive and compelling option in the luxury compact electric SUV segment.
