Suzuki has confirmed that its very first all-electric vehicle, the e Vitara, will be arriving in Australia in the first quarter of 2026. This is a significant moment for the Japanese brand as it takes its first major step into the EV market. The e Vitara is a compact SUV that is built on a new dedicated EV platform developed in collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu, ensuring it benefits from the latest in electric vehicle technology.

The Australian e Vitara lineup is expected to include three variants, all of which will be powered by an efficient and powerful eAxle.

• The entry-level front-wheel-drive variant is set to be equipped with a 49 kWh battery pack and a 106 kW motor. This model is expected to have a WLTP driving range of around 344 km, making it a great option for city and urban use.
• A more powerful front-wheel-drive version will be available with a larger 61 kWh battery and a 128 kW motor. This variant is expected to have a WLTP driving range of over 400 km.
• The top-of-the-range all-wheel-drive model, known as the AllGrip-e, will be powered by the same 61 kWh battery but with an additional motor on the rear axle. This dual-motor setup delivers a combined output of 135 kW and 300 Nm of torque, and includes a Trail driving mode for enhanced off-road capability.

While official Australian pricing has not yet been confirmed, early indicators from the UK market suggest that the e Vitara may not be the budget-friendly option some were hoping for, with pricing likely to be in the mid-$40,000 to mid-$50,000 range. However, with its competitive range, versatile drivetrain options, and a suite of advanced safety features, the Suzuki e Vitara is set to be a formidable new contender in the Australian electric SUV market.
