BMW iX3

Categories : BMW Electric Vehicles Brand:

The BMW iX3 has always been a compelling electric SUV, sharing its platform and styling with the popular X3. However, the next-generation iX3 is set to be a landmark release, as it will be the first production vehicle built on BMW’s groundbreaking ‘Neue Klasse’ platform. This all-new model is not just a facelift; it is a complete re-engineering of the vehicle from the ground up, a transformation that marks the beginning of a new era for BMW.

The current iX3, with its rear-wheel drive and 74 kWh usable battery, has proven to be a popular choice in the premium electric SUV segment, offering a WLTP driving range of up to 461 km and a DC fast-charging speed of up to 150 kW.

However, the upcoming ‘Neue Klasse’ iX3, which is scheduled for an Australian arrival in the first half of 2026, promises a significant leap forward in every metric. Key highlights of this new platform include:

  • 800V Architecture: This will enable ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 400 kW, allowing drivers to add over 350 km of range in just 10 minutes.
  • Sixth-Generation eDrive Technology: The new powertrain, featuring cylindrical battery cells, is expected to increase range by up to 30%, charging speed by 30%, and efficiency by 25%. BMW has teased a potential driving range of up to 800 km (WLTP) for some variants.
  • Panoramic iDrive: The interior will be completely revolutionized with the new Panoramic iDrive system, featuring a full-width windscreen projection, a central display, and a 3D head-up display, all powered by a new ‘superbrain’ computing architecture.

This new iX3 will not only replace the current model but will also serve as the technological flagship for BMW’s next generation of electric vehicles, setting an entirely new standard for performance, range, and digital user experience.
