Kia is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup in Australia with the arrival of the EV4, a stylish and dynamic electric sedan. Positioned to compete directly with rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal, the EV4 is expected to launch late in 2025 or early 2026. This new model will offer a compelling alternative to the brand’s SUV-heavy EV range.
The EV4 is built on a 400V E-GMP platform, which it shares with the forthcoming EV3 compact SUV. The use of this platform allows Kia to offer an affordable yet capable vehicle that still delivers a great driving experience.
For the Australian market, three front-wheel-drive variants are expected:
- Standard Range: This entry-level model is anticipated to be equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP driving range of around 436 km.
- Long Range: Moving up the lineup, this variant will feature a larger 81.4 kWh battery, which is expected to boost the WLTP driving range to an impressive 604 km, making it a strong contender for long-distance driving.
- GT-Line: This top-spec variant will also feature the larger 81.4 kWh battery and will come with a sportier design and more premium features.
All EV4 variants will be powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces 150 kW, providing a brisk and responsive driving experience. While official Australian pricing has not been released, early estimates suggest a starting price of around $50,000, which would position it as a highly competitive option.
In addition to the sedan body style, Kia Australia has also confirmed that a hatchback version of the EV4 will be offered a few months after the sedan, giving buyers even more choice.
