Kia EV6

Categories : Electric Vehicles Kia Brand:

The Kia EV6 has been a genuine game-changer since its launch, offering a blend of sharp design, compelling performance, and future-proof technology. It shares its advanced DNA with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, being built on the same dedicated E-GMP platform. This platform is a massive part of the EV6’s appeal, thanks to its 800V architecture that enables incredibly rapid DC fast-charging speeds of up to 233 kW, allowing you to charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes. It also comes with the hugely practical Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, which turns your car into a mobile power bank.

The good news for Australian buyers is that an updated 2025 model year EV6 is set to arrive in Kia showrooms in the second quarter of this year. These updates are a direct response to customer feedback and a desire to stay ahead in a competitive market.

The most significant change is the introduction of a larger, fourth-generation 84 kWh battery pack, which replaces the previous 77.4 kWh unit. This upgrade is expected to provide a welcome boost to the car’s WLTP driving range.

The lineup will continue to offer a range of variants to suit different drivers. The rear-wheel-drive models will provide the longest range and are perfect for daily commuting and touring. The all-wheel-drive GT-Line variants, on the other hand, deliver a more dynamic driving experience with their dual-motor setup. At the top of the range is the breathtaking EV6 GT, a true performance hero. This variant boasts a staggering 430 kW of power and 740 Nm of torque, allowing it to blast from 0-100 km/h in a supercar-rivalling 3.5 seconds. For the 2025 model, Kia Australia has even retuned the GT’s suspension and steering to better suit our local roads, with stiffer rear sway bars and softer front springs for an even better ride and handling balance.

Inside, the 2025 EV6 gets a welcome refresh with an updated panoramic curved display and a redesigned steering wheel. The infotainment system now features Kia’s latest ccNC software, which includes the long-awaited introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across the range. It also features a fingerprint-authentication system on the higher-end GT-Line and GT trims. With its refined design, increased range, and new tech, the 2025 Kia EV6 is set to solidify its position as a top contender in the Australian EV market.
