Lexus UX300e

Categories : Electric Vehicles Lexus Brand:

The Lexus UX 300e, the brand’s first all-electric vehicle to be sold in Australia, has been officially discontinued. While it received a significant update in 2023 that saw a larger 72.8 kWh battery pack and a WLTP driving range of up to 450 km, Lexus has decided to remove the model from its Australian lineup due to “production restrictions on selected parts.”

Lexus Australia has confirmed that there are no plans to reintroduce the UX 300e at this stage. This decision, in part, reflects the brand’s strategic shift to focus on newer, purpose-built electric vehicles like the RZ. While the UX 300e offered a decent package with its 150 kW and 300 Nm front-mounted electric motor and premium Lexus features, it faced stiff competition and was ultimately outsold by rivals and its own RZ sibling.

At the time of its discontinuation, the UX 300e was offered in two variants, Luxury and Sports Luxury, both with a high level of standard equipment. These models also featured an upgraded interior with a new 12.3-inch infotainment system and more sophisticated safety technologies.

While the UX 300e’s run in Australia has come to an end, a handful of new examples may still be available at some dealerships while stocks are cleared. For buyers who want a small electric Lexus, the focus now shifts to the brand’s other electrified offerings, including the updated RZ, which is now the sole all-electric Lexus in Australia, and the wide range of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

Variant Starting Price Driving Range Battery Size
Lexus UX300e Luxury $79,990 450 km 73 kWh
Lexus UX300e Sports Luxury $88,490 450 km 73 kWh
