The Mercedes-Benz EQB is the spacious and highly versatile sibling to the EQA, and it has just received a significant update for the 2025 model year in Australia. Following a similar pattern to its internal-combustion counterpart, the GLB, the EQB offers a practical and family-friendly package with the added benefit of a zero-emissions electric powertrain.

The headline feature of the EQB is its standard seven-seat configuration, which is a rarity in the compact luxury SUV segment. While the third row is best suited for children on shorter journeys, it provides an invaluable level of flexibility for growing families or for those who occasionally need to transport extra passengers.

The Australian lineup currently consists of two variants: the EQB 250+ and the all-wheel-drive EQB 350 4MATIC. Both models are now more competitively priced, with the introduction of a new “City Edition” that lowers the price of entry.

The EQB 250+ is the value-focused model, sharing its powertrain with the EQA 250+. It features a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 140 kW and 385 Nm of torque. It’s powered by a large 70.5 kWh battery pack, which gives it a WLTP driving range of around 530 km. While its larger size and weight mean it’s slightly less efficient and has a shorter range than the EQA 250+, the trade-off is a much more spacious and practical interior.

For those who prioritize performance and all-weather traction, there is the EQB 350 4MATIC. This variant adds a second motor to the rear axle, creating an all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 215 kW and a substantial 520 Nm of torque. It uses a smaller 66.5 kWh battery, resulting in a WLTP range of approximately 432 km.

Inside, both models are a showcase of Mercedes-Benz luxury and technology. They feature the MBUX dual-screen setup with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, which now includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With its unique seven-seat layout, competitive pricing, and a strong list of standard features, the Mercedes-Benz EQB is a compelling option for families looking for a premium, electric, and highly versatile SUV.
