The MG4 has quickly become one of the most compelling electric vehicles in the Australian market, thanks to its combination of a competitive price, impressive performance, and a wide range of variants. It’s a key player in the affordable EV space, going head-to-head with rivals like the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora.

MG has made the MG4 available in a total of five variants, offering a choice of three different battery sizes to suit a wide range of budgets and driving needs.

• The entry point is the MG4 Excite 51, which is an incredibly well-priced rear-wheel-drive model with a 51 kWh battery. It provides a WLTP driving range of 350 km and offers a smooth and comfortable ride. This model is currently available at a reduced nationwide driveaway price of $37,990 until August 31, 2025, making it an exceptional value proposition.
• For those who need more range, there’s the MG4 Excite 64 and Essence 64, both equipped with a 64 kWh battery pack that boosts the WLTP range to 450 km. The Essence variant adds premium features like a 360-degree camera, a two-tone roof, and wireless phone charging.
• The MG4 Long Range 77 steps things up further with a larger 77 kWh battery, providing an impressive WLTP range of 530 km, making it suitable for longer journeys.

At the very top of the range is the performance-focused MG4 XPower. This dual-motor, all-wheel-drive hot hatch is a true pocket rocket. It delivers a massive 320 kW of power and 600 Nm of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0-100 km/h in a blistering 3.8 seconds. The XPower also features a unique suspension tune, upgraded brakes, and a dynamic cornering system for an exhilarating driving experience.

Looking ahead, MG is set to introduce an even cheaper version of the MG4, known as the MG4 Urban, to the Australian market in 2026. This new model will feature a slightly different, more rounded design and is expected to come with smaller battery options and a greater focus on city driving. This will further strengthen the MG4’s position as one of the most accessible and versatile electric vehicles in Australia.
