Peugeot e-208

Coming Soon

The fully electric Peugeot e-208 has had a bit of a complicated journey to the Australian market. Originally announced for a 2024 launch, the vehicle subsequently disappeared from Peugeot Australia’s local website, leading to speculation about its future here. However, it seems the project is back on track.

The e-208 is an electric version of the popular Peugeot 208 hatchback, which has been updated with a new look and a more efficient powertrain. It is built on the same e-CMP platform as the e-2008 SUV, and while it was previously confirmed to be coming to Australia, the timeline has been pushed back.

For the Australian market, the e-208 is expected to be offered in a single, well-equipped GT variant. It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces 115 kW of power and 260 Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. This is paired with a 51 kWh battery pack, giving it an official WLTP driving range of 331 km.

The e-208’s biggest selling point is its stylish and modern design, which is a key part of its appeal. It features a new front fascia with a revised grille and updated LED headlights, as well as a new 10-inch infotainment screen with the latest i-Cockpit operating system.

While Australian pricing has not been officially confirmed, leaked details suggest a starting price of around $49,990 plus on-road costs. This would position it as a premium offering in the compact EV segment, competing with rivals like the Fiat 500e and the forthcoming MG4.

With its sleek design, competitive range, and updated technology, the e-208 is a welcome addition to the Australian electric vehicle market.
