The Polestar 4 is a significant addition to the brand’s Australian lineup, slotting in as a premium SUV coupé that blends the performance of a sports car with the practicality of an SUV. It’s the third model to arrive in Australia from Polestar, and it’s built on parent company Geely’s advanced Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which is a key to its impressive features and driving dynamics.
Positioned between the smaller Polestar 2 and the larger Polestar 3, the Polestar 4 is a design statement, most notably for its unique lack of a rear window. This bold design choice not only gives the car a sleek, fastback-style silhouette but also allows for a more spacious interior with increased rear headroom. In place of the traditional rear window, a high-definition screen provides a live camera feed from a roof-mounted camera. This can also be switched to a regular mirror to see the rear passengers.
Initially, the Australian lineup for the Polestar 4 consists of two “Long Range” variants, both equipped with a large 100 kWh battery pack (94 kWh usable).
- The Long Range Single Motor is a rear-wheel-drive model. It delivers 200 kW of power and 343 Nm of torque, which is enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.1 seconds. Its primary focus is on efficiency, providing an impressive WLTP driving range of up to 620 km.
- The Long Range Dual Motor is the performance hero of the range. With a second motor on the front axle, it has a combined output of 400 kW and 686 Nm of torque. This makes it Polestar’s quickest production car to date, with a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 3.8 seconds. Despite the performance focus, it still offers a very respectable WLTP range of up to 590 km.
The Polestar 4 comes with a long list of standard features, including a panoramic glass roof, 20-inch wheels, and a 15.4-inch landscape-oriented central touchscreen running on Android Automotive OS. Several optional packs are available to add more features, such as the Plus Pack which includes a head-up display and a Harman Kardon sound system, or the Performance Pack for the dual-motor variant, which adds larger Brembo brakes, 22-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned chassis.
Polestar is currently offering special drive-away prices on select pre-configured Polestar 4 inventory vehicles. This limited-time offer, available for orders placed before September 30, 2025, and delivered before October 31, 2025, provides a great opportunity to get into a Polestar 4 without the usual on-road costs.
