The Polestar 5, the brand’s fourth model to arrive in Australia, is shaping up to be its most ambitious vehicle yet. This high-performance grand tourer is poised to redefine the segment, blending stunning design with groundbreaking engineering and a focus on dynamics. Polestar has been extensively testing prototypes in Australia to fine-tune the chassis and calibrate its advanced systems for local conditions, with the final production version expected to be revealed before the end of 2025 and first deliveries to follow in 2026.

The Polestar 5 is built on a new, in-house designed bonded aluminum unibody chassis, a unique construction method that delivers a “supercar level of torsional stiffness” while also being lightweight. This is a significant engineering feat that promises to make the Polestar 5 a true driver’s car.

The Australian lineup for the Polestar 5 will include both a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive variant and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive flagship. The performance variant will be a true powerhouse, with a dual-motor powertrain that is expected to deliver a combined 650 kW and 900 Nm of torque. This will give it a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 3.0 seconds, putting it in direct competition with the likes of the Porsche Taycan Turbo and Lotus Emeya R.

The Polestar 5 is also expected to feature a new 800V electrical system and an advanced battery pack, which is believed to have a capacity of over 100 kWh. This will enable ultra-fast charging and a competitive driving range of around 485 km for the all-wheel-drive variant, while single-motor variants are expected to have a range of up to 600 km.

With its striking design, cutting-edge technology, and a focus on performance, the Polestar 5 is set to become the new flagship of the brand’s lineup and a formidable new player in the Australian luxury performance EV market.
