Skyworth, the Chinese brand formerly known as Skywell, is making a significant push into the Australian market. Following the introduction of its EC11 light commercial van, the brand is set to launch the BE11, a mid-size electric SUV that promises to be a compelling new competitor. The BE11 is expected to arrive in Australia in late 2025, with competitive pricing already announced.
The Australian lineup for the BE11 consists of two front-wheel-drive variants: Comfort and Luxury. Both models share the same powertrain, which includes a front-mounted electric motor delivering 150 kW and 320 Nm of torque. This allows for a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 9.6 seconds. The BE11 is equipped with a substantial 86 kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack, giving it an impressive WLTP driving range of 489 km.
The pricing for the BE11 is particularly aggressive, with the Comfort variant starting from $48,990 plus on-road costs, and the Luxury variant from $52,990 plus on-road costs. This positions it as a genuine value-for-money proposition, undercutting rivals like the Tesla Model Y and even some smaller SUVs like the BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
The two variants are differentiated by their interior features and technology. The Comfort model is well-equipped with a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, and heated and ventilated front seats. The Luxury model adds a panoramic sunroof, a larger 15-inch central screen, and rear privacy glass.
With its blend of a long driving range, competitive pricing, and a strong list of standard features, the Skyworth BE11 is set to make a big impact on the Australian electric SUV market.
