The Volkswagen ID. Buzz, a modern, all-electric reimagining of the iconic Kombi, has officially arrived in Australia. This highly anticipated vehicle is a significant addition to the brand’s electric lineup, combining retro charm with cutting-edge technology. It’s built on the same MEB platform as other ID. models but with a unique focus on versatility and practicality.

The initial variants available are from the people-mover side of the lineup. These are all part of the ID. Buzz Pro family and are powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 210 kW of power and 550 Nm of torque, which is enough to propel the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. This is paired with an 84 kWh battery pack that offers a WLTP driving range of up to 422 km for the short-wheelbase version.

The Pro is available in two wheelbase options:

• The Short Wheelbase (SWB) is a 5-seater priced from $87,990 plus on-road costs.
• The Long Wheelbase (LWB) is a 7-seater priced from $91,290 plus on-road costs. The LWB model also features a larger 91 kWh battery, giving it a longer WLTP range of up to 452 km.

For those who need a more performance-oriented option, the all-wheel-drive ID. Buzz GTX is set to join the lineup later in 2025. This model adds a second electric motor to the front axle for a combined output of 250 kW and 590 Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a swift 6.4 seconds. It also has a larger battery, and a towing capacity of up to 1,600 kg.

Finally, for commercial use, the ID. Buzz Cargo van is also available. It is priced from $79,990 plus on-road costs and comes in a short-wheelbase configuration. The Cargo version offers a 3.9 cubic meters of cargo volume and a payload of up to 774 kg. The front row can be configured with either two standard seats or a three-seat bench.
