The highly anticipated Volvo ES90 is on track to arrive in Australia towards the end of 2025, bringing with it a fresh interpretation of the sedan body style. Volvo describes the ES90 as a car that “blurs the boundaries” between a sedan, a fastback, and a high-riding SUV. This unique design gives it the refined elegance of a traditional sedan with the practicality and spaciousness of a more modern fastback.

The ES90 is a technological flagship for Volvo, and it’s built on the same advanced Scalable Product Architecture 2 (SPA2) platform as the EX90 SUV. However, a key difference is that the ES90 debuts Volvo’s new 800V electrical architecture, a major upgrade that enables faster charging and improved efficiency.

The Australian lineup for the ES90 will be comprised of at least two variants, both with a powerful dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system. The standard model, with a 92 kWh battery, is expected to offer a WLTP driving range of up to 650 km. The top-of-the-range model, equipped with a larger 106 kWh battery, will have a WLTP driving range of up to 700 km, making it one of the longest-range EVs on the market.

Thanks to its 800V architecture and new battery management software, the ES90 is a charging powerhouse. It can add up to 300 km of range in just 10 minutes when using a 350 kW DC fast charger. This is a significant improvement over the EX90 and makes long-distance travel much more convenient.

Final Australian specifications and pricing will be confirmed closer to the launch, but with its stunning design, cutting-edge technology, and impressive range, the Volvo ES90 is set to be a formidable new competitor in the premium electric sedan market, going head-to-head with rivals like the Porsche Taycan and Audi A6 e-tron.
