XPeng is set to bolster its presence in the Australian market with the arrival of the G9, a large electric SUV that will sit at the top of its local lineup. While the smaller G6 has already made a strong impression, the G9 is a more premium and spacious offering, designed to compete with luxury rivals like the Kia EV9 and Mercedes-Benz EQC. The G9 is expected to arrive in Australia in 2026, with an updated 2025 model being the first to reach local showrooms.

The G9 is a five-seat SUV that prioritizes passenger comfort and generous cargo space, making it an ideal family vehicle. It’s built on a dedicated 800V platform, which is a major highlight, as it enables ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 300 kW. This means the G9 can add up to 100 km of range in just five minutes and charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 20 minutes.

The Australian G9 lineup is expected to be comprised of three variants:

• RWD Standard Range: This model is powered by a single motor that produces 258 kW and 465 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 79 kWh battery, providing an impressive WLTP driving range of up to 570 km.
• AWD Long Range: This high-performance variant adds a second motor for all-wheel drive, with a combined output of 423 kW and 695 Nm of torque. This allows for a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds, while still offering a generous WLTP range of 540 km from its 93.1 kWh battery.
• AWD Performance: This is the top-of-the-range model, with an even more powerful dual-motor setup that delivers a combined 475 kW and 710 Nm of torque. It also has a larger 93.1 kWh battery and a WLTP range of 520 km.

The G9’s interior is a showcase of technology and luxury, with a dual 14.96-inch screen setup, a premium sound system with 22 speakers, and a range of advanced safety and driver-assistance systems. While official Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to start around the $70,000 mark, positioning it as a highly competitive option in the large electric SUV market.
