Subaru has unveiled its 2026 Uncharted electric SUV, a compact crossover aimed squarely at the small-SUV segment that sits beneath the Solterra and the Trailseeker. This model marks the third electric vehicle developed in partnership with Toyota and shares a platform, powertrain tech, and much of its bodyshell with the 2025 Toyota C-HR+ EV.

Australia’s import fate for the Uncharted remains unclear. The vehicle has been launched in the United States and is confirmed for Europe, including right-hand-drive versions for the UK. In the US, it will be offered in Premium, Sport and GT trims. The entry-level Premium is front-wheel-drive with a single front electric motor producing 165 kW, which is a rarity for Subaru. The Sport and GT trims add dual motors and all-wheel drive, incorporating Subaru’s X-Mode traction tech and delivering up to 252 kW, enabling a brisk 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds.

Power for the motors comes from a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, giving the Uncharted a claimed range of up to 482 km with the single-motor setup and 466 km with dual motors. Europe will also offer a single-motor version with a smaller 57.7 kWh battery, rated at about 444 km. By comparison, Toyota’s C-HR+ claims between 525 and 600 km in its WLTP figures.

DC fast charging tops out at 150 kW, with a 10-80 per cent recharge taking around 30 minutes.

In appearance, the Uncharted looks almost indistinguishable from the Toyota C-HR+, but Subaru has given it a distinct front end to align with the Solterra and Trailseeker. Expect revised rear lights, new alloy wheels, a different rear bumper and unique roof rails. Inside, the cabin features a large 14-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and dual wireless smartphone charging mats. Subaru also promises a dedicated suspension tune for the Uncharted.

Australia’s broader EV outlook for the model remains uncertain. Toyota has yet to confirm a local import of the C-HR+ itself. For context, Toyota has earmarked the bZ4X Touring for a launch in the first half of 2025, which could influence local strategy for this class of EV.
